Kent’s Kipp Popert produced a late birdie blitz to fight off the challenge of Tommaso Perrino in the final round of the G4D Tour @ BMW PGA Championship and claim his eighth G4D Tour title with a five-shot win.

Popert began the final day two shots behind overnight leader Perrino after Monday’s 74, but carded five birdies and two bogeys on day two to finish the tournament on one under par.

Popert, who was diagnosed with a form of cerebral palsy called Spastic diplegia that affects his lower body, has now won the past three G4D Tour events following victories at The Belfry and Galgorm over the summer.World No.1 Popert turned in 34 after making back-to-back birdies at the third and fourth before dropping his first shot of the day on the sixth. He then birdied the par-five 12th but gave the shot straight back at the next to sit just one stroke clear of Perrino with five holes remaining. Two consecutive bogeys for Perrino on the 14th and 15th handed Popert a three-shot cushion and he stretched his lead further with birdies at 16 and 17. The 25-year-old finished his round with a par on the last to sign for a closing 69 and clinch a comfortable victory.
Perrino finished alone in second place on four over par, one shot ahead of Brendan Lawlor in third.
After successfully defending the title he won last year, Popert said: “I played really well today. Hit it really good. I gave myself a lot of really good looks out there. Just had a few misreads, but I’m really pleased with how I played and my caddie Ben and I did a good job as always.”For all the scores, click here.
