The final event of the Alps Tour season, the Alps Tour Grand Final, was won by Italy’s Enrico Di Nitto, whose eight-under-par score saw him finish two shots clear of fellow countryman Jacopo Vecchi Fossa and France’s Damien Perrier.

The tournament had to be reduced to 36 holes following long periods of heavy rain, with Di Nitto securing victory with rounds of 71 and 65 around the testing Rosso course at Golf Club Monticello in northern Italy.

Victory also earned Di Nitto promotion to the Challenge Tour for next year, with the Italian securing second place on the Alps Tour Order of Merit.

The four other players to earn Challenge Tour cards were Order of Merit winner Benjamin Kedochim (France), Brandon Kewalramani (USA), Damien Perrier (France), and Vince Van Veen (Netherlands).

After bagging his first Alps Tour win in five years and earning his Challenge Tour card, Di Nitto said: “This is fantastic. It’s been three very long and very tough days, but to end it like this is extremely rewarding.

“My season wasn’t always perfect; my game was struggling in mid-season, and I worked hard with my coach, which paid off. This year, playing on the Alps Tour, I’ve learned a lot, which I’m happy to bring to the Challenge Tour with me.

“I want to dedicate this win to my grandfather, who sadly passed away last week. My dad didn’t allow me to go back home for the funeral, but wanted me to come here and win it for him and I’m so proud that I have been able to do that.”
