Introduction
Earlier this year, BIG MAX hopped on the premium golf bag trend, making a Prime version of their popular Dri Lite Hybrid [review HERE]. Now their most unique bag is getting the same treatment with the BIG MAX Dri Lite Silencio Prime. If you love having your clubs neat, organized, and quiet, read on.
Looks
The biggest difference between the BIG MAX Dri Lite Silencio Prime and the standard Silencio 2 [review HERE] is the look. Where the standard model has BIG MAX’s signature bold colors, the Silencio Prime turns the color palette down for a more timeless aesthetic. This bag is covered in SoftGuard PU – a vegan leather – which looks and feels premium.
Additionally, BIG MAX dialed down the branding, trading the billboard vibe for the stealth wealth feel. There’s a modestly sized BIG MAX label near the opening, but the only other branding is the embossed “M” on the ball pocket. This bag is expensive ($379) but the quality and the look will allow you to carry it for numerous seasons. The vegan leather cleans easily and is scratch resistant, so it will take abuse without looking beat up.

Features
With twelve pockets, none of which could be considered small, the BIG MAX Dri Lite Silencio Prime gives you the ability to bring everything you could possibly want to the course. The back of the bag features three pockets – a capacious cooler pocket, a ball pocket that scarfs down balls by the dozen, and a pocket in between for a rangefinder or other frequently accessed gear.
The two sides of the bag are laid out identically. There’s a “soft touch” valuables pocket nearest the top. A giant pocket could easily house a full rain suit. The two pockets on top of the large one can hold snacks, sunscreen…honestly, you’re going to run out of gear long before you run out of pockets. Finally, there’s a velcro pocket on the front of the bag that’s partially obscured by the shoulder strap. Maybe that’s where you keep your last dozen balls, the backups backups.
In addition to all those pockets, the BIG MAX Dri Lite Silencio Prime has two umbrella holders, a velcro spot for your glove, a tee holder, and a carabiner/towel loop. Finally, the bag includes a matching rainhood.
Performance
Let’s take it from the top. There is no other golf bag that has a top like the BIG MAX Silencio. The BIG MAX Dri Lite Silencio Prime shares the same design with the Silencio 2, and it works perfectly to keep your clubs from making noise and getting damaged or disorganized. There are fourteen individual compartments, nine for irons or wedges, four for woods, and one extra large opening to hold a large putter grip. My favorite aspect is the way the iron slots spiral upward, making each club accessible. This level of organization also allows each club to slide in and out effortlessly.
What makes the BIG MAX Dri Lite Silencio Prime unique from the Silencio 2 is the material. I mention that again here because the SoftGuard PU isn’t just about looks. This vegan leather is water resistant, scratch resistant, and fire retardant. That last bit is the coolest part, though, at least for how I play golf, the least relevant.
The storage, organization, and premium materials do come at the cost of weight. The BIG MAX Dri Lite Silencio Prime tips the scales at a hefty 10.4 pounds, and it will eat up room in your trunk. If you take full advantage of the storage in this bag – drinks, balls, apparel, tech – you could probably push this near 50 pounds. To make the Silencio Prime more maneuverable, BIG MAX gave it a heavily padded shoulder strap as well as handles on both sides and the bottom of the bag.
It probably goes without saying but the BIG MAX Dri Lite Silencio Prime is not for the walking golfer. This bag is made for riding carts, and it thrives in that setting. There’s a cart strap pass through so that every pocket remains accessible. It can also operate well on a push cart, but it needs to be nearly upright. Unsurprisingly, it works very well on the BIG MAX Blade IP 2 [review HERE], but push carts that let the bag lay flatter won’t take full advantage of the top design.
Conclusion
The BIG MAX Dri Lite Silencio Prime isn’t the bag for every golfer, but if you love organization, nothing else comes close. In a copycat industry, the Silencio stands alone, and the Prime version takes it to a higher level with classic looks and the durability to last numerous seasons.
